Today I have some quick links for some thoughtful, thrifty, crafty Mother’s Day gifts. Think of these as the grown-up version of making a macaroni necklace for mom.
DIY CORSAGE – Last year I made simple corsages out of silk flowers for our mothers and they came out really well. They are also great gift ideas for dances or as a graduation gift. My mom requested cloth napkins, also, so I found these for her. If your mom might like cloth napkins, you should hit up Dot & Army. They are handmade napkins from vintage fabric and are adorable.
DIY FASCINATORS – I decided to make these two very different fascinators for two costume parties I was invited to about a year ago: a Wild West Murder Mystery Party and a Mad Hatter Tea Party. I still wear them quite a bit. I have two tutorials for these. I have extra fine hair and have found these clips work perfectly, even with the weight of the flowers.*
DIY MAGNETIC RECIPE CLIPS – These simple little clips are perfect for holding recipes, lists, or photos to the fridge. You can make a dozen in about ten minutes. I have these cute birds in my shop, along with these clips and these magnets.*
TERRARIUMS – I’ve made just about all my friends a terrarium at one point or another (some of them twice when the first one died!) because they are so beautiful and easy to make. I have a whole page dedicated to terrarium tutorials and inspiration. You can always find cheap and beautiful glass containers while thrifting, and I’ve often grabbed plants from outside.
DIY TERRARIUM ORNAMENT – I made these for some friends for Christmas, and while they are a bit trickier than a normal terrarium, they are so pretty I think they are worth it. I even offer the glass ornaments in my shop.*
*These links go to my affiliate shop. I receive a small percentage of purchases made there. I’d love to be able to keep Isobel in preschool without resorting to writing sponsored posts for unsavory characters.
