Halloween is over and I hope you’ve all girded your loins with holly, because Christmas will be soon upon us. I’m making good on my daily post promise for November. Today, I’m sharing Twinkle, Isobel’s Elf on the Shelf, with whom we have a checkered and storied past. Why bother with a Christmas Elf if we are self-confessed Christmas Assholes when it comes to myths? It’s all here, read at your leisure, for I’m sure we will be talking about it a lot in the months to come. Isobel and I were enjoying some craft time on the couch during my recent bout of bronchitis, and as I was running out of things to do from a seated position, I broke out my sparkly pipe cleaners, which I had been saving for a rainy day, as one does with sparkly pipe cleaners. I made Twinkle this skirt using one pipe cleaner to go around the waist and another, folded in a zig-zag pattern, looping around it. Isobel made the crown herself using one pipe cleaner. She cut a length to fit around Twinkle’s head and then cut smaller lengths to twist around the crown and then poke skyward. All told, it was a good hour of sitting down and messing about with crafts.
Today we have our first rainy day in a long time, and I’m about to go bundle the kids up for a hopefully waterproof drop off. If you missed yesterday’s post, be sure to check it out, and I’ll be back tomorrow, fulfilling my promise of posting every day for the month of November.
