I did not take my weekly photo last week. I’ve been busting my pregnant butt off getting things ready for Christmas, sorting out some major paperwork stuff for next year, taking care of Anthony, and in the meantime, sleeping. We also hosted a large, boisterous and wonderful holiday party last Saturday night and have spent time with various members of the family, and with the light fading as fast as 3:30 in the afternoon I felt like the day would always be over before it really begun. I’m actually going to make it a point to do my photos today or tomorrow because even if it never gets posted I want a record of these weeks for Elias to enjoy, just like I did with Isobel. I didn’t have a perfect track record when I took my maternity photos with her, either, but I always made a point of making up for it.
I have been wanting to share photos of my muumuu on the blog because it’s unexpectedly turned out to be the most comfortable, most versatile and most flattering dressy item for pregnancy that I own. I’ll have to post a photo of how I wear it without any sweaters because it makes a fantastic dress, too. I’ve worn it to four or five occasions where wanted to wear something a little nicer than maternity pants but still be as comfortable. There were several dresses included in the Travelling Maternity Box but they were all far too large for me. (Although my stomach is quite large I’m about 5’3″ on a good day and small-framed overall.) I loved how the muumuu (whose brand name is, hilariously, “Metropolitan” – as if all fashionable city folk of the 70s wore polyester muumuus all day) looked and when I added my green cowl even took on a bit of Christmas flair.
Since I took the pictures to show off the muumuu I didn’t bother going outside. It was particularly windy and unpleasant that day so I just posed in front of the mirror in my bedroom. The scene behind me is not pretty, and for that I apologize. You can see Isobel playing in the background of two of the photos, but she was too busy building fairy houses out of laundry to want to pose for photos.
Underneath the muumuu I’m wearing a skinny belt from Target in order to give the whole outfit a little bit of shape and make it more dress-like as opposed to tent-like. I wore my hair up while outside to it wouldn’t get crazy because of the wind, but took it down once I got indoors. I realize leggings and sneakers aren’t the fanciest of attire, but I like to think that I tried from the waist up and that’s what counts. I’ve been wearing my thrifted golden leaf necklace at every chance I get, as well us my buttery soft leather jacket.
I may or may not post Week 26 on the blog, depending on our holiday schedule, but I will eventually put it up on flickr and I’ll link to that, if you’re curious. The rest of the posting week is going to be a bit unusual due to Christmas falling on Wednesday, so I’ll post the Snapshot tomorrow, holiday stuff Wednesday and Thursday, and it will be business as usual on Friday. Have a great week!
