By now you probably all know that we had a sonogram done last Friday and we are having a unicorn. Afterwards we met up with Anthony’s parents and celebrated my and his mother’s birthday with a dinner out. I wore this vintage dress that I bought at my friend Carrie’s now defunct thrift store. I didn’t try it on when I bought it but the length was perfect. When I got home and tried it on it was way too big and since I’m a viking at putting things like alterations off I decided to see if it would fit my pregnant belly so I could have a nice dress to wear out to dinner. It’s a bit big in the arms but other than that is perfect.
Since I am cold nearly 100% of the time these days, I paired it with pink tights and pink socks I bought at Target years ago. The socks aren’t the cutest thing ever, and I probably shouldn’t have worn them for the photos. I could have presented a falsely stylish version of myself but here I am keeping it real. This is either because I am fully committed to authenticity or really lazy. I prefer to think of them as two sides of the same coin.
Isobel had been deep in her thrifted dress up chest when I went in to ask her if she wanted to be in my belly pictures. She’s wearing the belt from her Operation Strong Girl costume and wings that looked practically unused for dollar at a thrift store. I am pretty sure this shirt was a gift from Bri but it could have also come from our friends Robert and Ashley’s daughter Alice. The skirt came from a cousin, but I’m not sure if it came from Jewel or Victoria at this point.
I labelled the bag as coming from a “fancy store” because I bought it somewhere fancy online when I still worked at the library. Anthony and I both had jobs then, and no kids to boot, so we had extra income for things like bags found on a whim online. I love that bag, but my life now is much more fun.
Anthony had recently watered our new back lawn (which looks fantastic, by the way–he and my Dad did a great job!!) which is why the ground is covered in footie prints of water. Isobel wanted one picture with just her in it since I had a photo of just me. I think she looks great.
