Thrifted Closet: Summer Market

25 Jun

Now that it’s hot enough for me to wear skirts and sandals I’m taking advantage of the fact by wearing them as often as possible. This is what I wore to the flea market last week, except I wore my hair up to keep cool and got a wicked sunburn on the back of my neck for my trouble.

The skirt, bag, necklace and bracelet are all thrifted. The shirt I’ve had in my closet forever–I probably got it at Target–and the shoes I’ve had twice as long. They came from an Old Lady catalog that my mother gets. We wear the same sandals and now that weird old lady stuff is popular I’m on-trend, but really I wear them because of my arthur-itis. There are very few shoes my body will tolerate, and even less sandals. It’s time for a new pair but I’m always worried they won’t feel right so I always put off buying them as long as possible.

I really love this canvas bag. It’s the perfect size and shape for me. Ingie’s Travel is no longer with us because Ingie retired, but she used to be the landlord for my husband’s family back when I was first introduced to Anthony. That’s a small town for you.

The thrifted copper bracelet was five dollars and the necklace was a quarter. I’m wearing it for fun now but it will soon end up in my shop.

The skirt is Old Navy.

The cat is a Lumpus.

(I’m trying to link up with Mandy but I can never get the code to work properly.)

I was searching the web for a fabulous vintage mushroom themed wall clock about a year ago and found your blog. You have been a part of my week ever since. Thanks for the smiles! :)
