Thrifty Giving: Little Big’s Thrifty Father’s Day Gift Guide For Your Husband or Boyfriend

11 Jun

Aren’t men so hard to shop for? If you’re logging on to Etsy or scouring the mall for Father’s Day gifts for your partner, then I’m going to let you in on a big secret that will save you tons of time and money: they don’t want cufflinks, or flasks, or a personalized golf-themed mug. I mean, some of them might want those things a little bit, and of course they will smile if that is your gift to them but I can guarantee you they are going to want the items on this list much, much more.*

1. SLEEP: Most parents I know would do bad, bad things in order to get more sleep. Myself included. Waking your other half in order to serve them breakfast in bed could lead to serious consequences. Let them sleep in and take a nap or five. Sleep is the precious.

2. CHEESEBURGER: all of the men I talked to for this highly scientific study preferred a cheeseburger** to almost every other food, with taco truck burritos and various meat-stuffed pizza coming in second. Point is, don’t overthink dinner.

3. VIDEO GAMES: Buying him a video game is awesome. Letting him spend hours playing his games uninterrupted is priceless.

4. AHEM: Do not forget the most highly anticipated present your husband or boyfriend will look forward to for being the best damn father out there. In fact, you can probably skip everything else if you just give him this.

* The idea for this post came directly from a conversation I had with Kelly on twitter and confirmed by my husband and all of the other dads I talked to. Kelly, your impeccable taste strikes again.

** Awesome cheeseburger graphic courtesy of The Red Star Designs. She had nothing to do with the BJ one. Promise.

What?! No graphic picture to illustrate that last gift? :D
Yeah, women tend to think men think the same way they do. They are a very simple gender to please. The hard part is shuting up our part of the brain that says “Are you sure this is enough?”.

We are mostly just happy to have great ladies who think highly of us. But we will not say no to any of the above.

It’s taken me awhile to figure it out, but we’re all the happier for it. :)

Quite right! Gift giving for a hubbie is stunningly simple, don’t over-think it.

Wouldn’t recommend the blow job for YOUR Dad, though! :D
