Thrifty Giving: Spring Showers
21 Mar

Last weekend my family and I drove to the coast to attend the marriage of one of my best and oldest friends. I went to her shower a few weeks ago. Turns out her cousin lives so close to me that I could walk to the shower. So I did.

The backyard where it was held was so lovely. It inspired me and made me mad with jealousy at the same time. Anthony played with Isobel in our backyard while I was gone and he could hear our animated laughter.

Look at this teapot? Also covet-worthy.

Let me just say that this day didn’t do my diet any favors.

We were asked to bring a recipe for her recipe box. I thought it was a lovely, old-fashioned touch. I made baked brie for Jenn one time and since then she’s texted me for the recipe a few times. I also wanted to give Jenn something vintage, so I printed out a copy of a baked brie recipe and gave her a milk glass dish to bake it in.

And I made her a card.

I loved this wrapping paper. It’s reversable. So cute.

The best part? Jenn specifically demanded requested no games.

I am so happy for her.

Love it! You know how to gift! Lovely, personal and vintage!
Last Christmas I started giving out vintage items as stocking stuffers. Now I just want to give everyone vintage all the time!
i fell in love with baked brie over the holidays. total yum, but i don’t have a dish to bake it in. the one you gifted is right up my alley. love it! now i shall be on the hunt for a similar one!
If I find any while thrifting I’ll let you know. Brie tastes even better in vintage.
Those teapots are the best. Proper tea. Hmmmm. It’s important. x
I’m really not sure I’ve ever had proper tea so I’ll have to invite myself to her house (or yours) to try some.
Note to self: get engaged, invite @exlibris to wedding, get baked brie recipe.
Plan B: Beg for recipe via blog comments.
Oh, I feel a recipe post coming.
That seems like less work than coming to Atlanta for a bridal shower. Not to mention – I don’t even have a boyfriend so Plan A could take a loooooong time.
My mom’s former partner gave my then-fiance $20 in exchange for no games at her shower. She didn’t really care, so: free $20!
SWEET!
You know, I’ve been to some showers that have had really fun games. I know it’s possible. It’s just a crap shoot that so often does not work out in your favor. And they can add hours on to a shower. They really should not hover around the four-hour mark unless they are friend-only and involve booze.
